Casa de los Niños History

In 1973 Casa de los Niños was founded by Sister Kathleen Clark. in answer to her dream of creating a safe haven for children in crisis.   The tragedy of child abuse she witnesses in St Mary’s emergency room compelled her to create Casa de los Niños, the first crisis nursery in the country. Since then many more crisis nurseries have been built across the country using Casa de los Niños as the model.

Casa de los Niños has extended a helping hand to children and families in need. Committed to preventing child abuse and neglect, our shelter and family services have provided aid, comfort and support to over 50,000 children & families in Pima County
