How to make a report of suspected Child Abuse or Neglect


• ARS-13-3620 states that any mandated reporter who has reasonable grounds to believe a child is or has been the victim of abuse or neglect shall immediately report, or cause reports to be made, of such information to Law Enforcement or Child Protective Services.

• A mandated reporter is any person having responsibility for the care or treatment of children is a mandated reporter but anyone can make a report of suspected abuse or neglect.

• Reasonable grounds means if a reasonable person with the same information would come to the same conclusion then you should report.

• Child abuse reports can be made by telephone (1-888-SOS-CHILD)
OR
• In person to a law enforcement officer or to Child Protective Services.

Section F of ARS01303620 states:
• A person furnishing a report, information or records required or authorized by this law, shall be immune from any civil or criminal liability by reason of such action unless such person acted with malice.

• This means that a person making a report, in good faith, can not be sued or held criminally liable for making the report.
