A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable savings account that allows you to recommend grants to Casa de los Niños and other qualified charities.
You may name Casa de los Niños or another charity as the beneficiary of the entire account or a percentage of the fund to create a lasting legacy.
Learn more about Donor Advised Funds by contacting Favin Gebremariam, VP of Development & Public Relations, at faving@casadelosninos.org or 520-660-6397
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) lets individuals age 70½ or older to donate directly from a taxable IRA to Casa de los Niños (up to $108,000 in 2025), avoiding taxes on distributions.
As a result, you may avoid being pushed into higher income tax brackets and prevent phaseouts of other tax deductions, though there are other limitations.
You may name Casa de los Niños or another charity as the beneficiary of your IRA. [this should link to the beneficiary designations pop-up if possible, if not just leave it not linking)

Members of Pillars of Hope:
Common types of charitable bequests
Below are some common types of charitable bequests given to nonprofit organizations, and language you can use or share with your attorney or financial advisor to assist in setting up the gift.
A specific gift is set by you in the form of dollars, items, or other assets from your estate to Casa de los Niños Foundation.
Use this document with sample bequest language to help you make your gift.
If you’d like to give a specific bequest to Casa de los Niños Foundation, you could use language like this:
“I’d like to give to Casa de los Niños Foundation, a charitable organization (Tax ID 86-0609655) located at 1120 N. 5th Avenue, Tucson, AZ, the sum of $_____________ for its general purposes.
A residual gift is made from the estate after all other wishes are fulfilled, or a percentage of the estate.
If you’d like to add Casa de los Niños Foundation as a beneficiary of the residue of an estate, you could use language like this:
“All the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate I give to Casa de los Niños Foundation, a charitable organization (Tax ID 86-0609655) located at 1120 N. 5th Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85705, for its general purposes.”
A contingent gift can be used only if the designated beneficiaries (usually children or family members) are unable to accept the estate gift.
If you’d like to add Casa de los Niños Foundation as a contingent beneficiary, you could use language like this:
“If my primary beneficiary/ies (name of beneficiary/ies) does/do not survive me, then I give [the sum of $X /a percentage of my estate /a specific asset] to Casa de los Niños Foundation, a charitable organization (Tax ID 86-0609655) located at 1120 N. 5th Avenue Tucson, AZ 85705, for its general purposes.”
You can name Casa de los Niños as a beneficiary of your bank accounts, investment accounts, life insurance policy, Donor Advised Fund (DAF), and retirement assets, including IRAs, Roth IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, and other pension plans.
Adding a designated beneficiary is a simple process that requires only a brief conversation with your financial institution or advisor. For some, you may only need to complete a form to have the designation officially added to your file.
As you consider adding a beneficiary designation, be sure to identify the order of beneficiaries specifically:
This is the first level of beneficiary that may receive a pre-determined allocation of your assets. You may designate that all the assets go to one beneficiary, or select percentages or portions of the assets for multiple beneficiaries.
Also known as a contingent beneficiary, this beneficiary receives the allocated amount of the asset if all identified primary beneficiaries pass before or simultaneously with the asset’s owner. While this may seem unnecessary given the number of primary beneficiaries that you have identified, it can be an important way ensure your assets pass to the charity of your choosing.
Learn more about making a beneficiary designation by contacting giftplanning@casadelosninos.org.
The Arizona Charitable Tax Credit lets individuals donate to Qualifying Charitable Organizations (QCOs) and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on state taxes, giving taxpayers more choice in how their tax dollars are allocated.
The maximum allowable credit for contributions to QCOs for the 2025 tax year is $987 for married filing jointly filers or $495 for single, married filing separately, and heads of household filers. For 2026, the credit increases to $1,009 for married filing jointly filers or $506 for single, married filing separately, and heads of household filers.
Example: If in 2025, a single individual owes $2,000 in taxes but donates the maximum of $495 to a QCO organization, their tax liability is lowered to $1,505.
Giving is easy, but you need to document your donation to claim your donation.
Follow these steps:
